Transcript
A couple of things one is that that is the nature of this world. Nothing is permanent. Relationships begin, they end, but that's life. There are seasons for everything and for everyone. And we have to have the grace and the composure to allow different things and different people through our lives at the time when they're needed. Another thing to consider is that if you've experienced being left by somebody important to you, especially if it was a caregiver, a child, that pain can be so devastating and so difficult to sort out that it becomes an expectation, almost that inevitably everyone will leave you. It's so traumatizing that you're always expecting the other shoe, so to speak. And when you're living with that anticipatory anxiety in your life, inevitably everyone leaving you, what happens is that you subconsciously, or sometimes even consciously, push people out of your life to just get it over with. Instead of being taken by surprise and having another person let you down, you just sort of do it yourself and shut people down, deliberately push them away. And if that's something you realize is a pattern for you, you might want to embrace the fact that people enter our lives and exit our lives at different times for different reasons. And that we don't need to hold on to any one person as permanent the stability of any life is based on.

Nothing in this world is permanent. Life moves in seasons, and people come and go for different reasons. The challenge is learning to appreciate what is here without trying to make it last forever. For those who experienced abandonment early in life, this can be especially difficult. The pain of being left creates a fear that can become so strong that you start pushing people away before they have the chance to disappoint you. Healing begins when you stop building your sense of safety around permanence. Real security comes from knowing that even when people come and go, your life remains guided, meaningful, and whole. #selfhealing #relationships #faith #rabbishaistaub #jewishwisdom
