If you want to succeed in your career as an accountant and you are very good at accounting, but only good at accounting. Like you cannot step outside the bubble of being an accountant, then you probably want to work in a very large company because that's where you can be a cognate machine and drive value for that company as an accountant and nothing else. But if you want to work in a small company, one where you're able to work directly with a founder, then you need to understand how to think like an operator. You need to be able to put yourself outside the frame of an accountant and think like the founder. What matters to them. What are they trying to achieve? And you're just the person who can read the accounting data better than they can. You read the T-levels, understand what's going on and tell them and give them advice. If you can't do that, you're not going to be very good in a small company.
