Part 2 of 3 - Emmy’s leg & the decision🐾 After meeting with specialists, getting x-rays, and seeking out as many opinions as we could… Every single one came to the same conclusion, there was no way to repair Emmy’s leg😥 The break was so old, she’d spent years adapting to life without using it, and it would never function normally again. So keeping it would only risk more injury and more pain. Amputation. Hearing that word was heartbreaking💔 We rescue dogs to give them a better life… not to take one of their limbs😭 But that’s the responsibility that comes with rescue. Sometimes love means making the decision you wish you didn’t have to make. Not because it’s easy but because you truly believe it’s what’s best for them. We cried. We questioned ourselves. We hoped with everything in us that we were doing the right thing. A lot of people thought Felix was the first dog we helped through a life changing surgery, but Emmy was actually the first one we went through all of this with. She was the reason we already knew which specialists to call, which hospitals we trusted, and where to go when Felix needed us. As scary as this journey was, we leaned on Emmy while she relied on us and together we got through this! Part 3 tomorrow… and I promise, it’s worth the wait🫶🏼🐾
