5 awards that colleges DO NOT care about (From a Harvard Student) Coming from someone who applied to 30+ universities and is now at Harvard Number one is National Honor Society And honestly, I hear about this one so much, but over 1 million students around the US are in National Honor Society, so it really lacks that standout component Number two is honor roll Colleges can see your transcript anyway, so it's no use wasting space in the award section Number three is JV or varsity team Unless you have a position on that team and or you can write a supplement about it, I just wouldn't put it. Just because it's so common Number four is any local school award like highest average in Spanish, highest average in math Again, colleges can see your transcript, so I wouldn't waste that space in the award section when you can write about something more meaningful Number five and the last one is any club position Unless that club position like being class treasurer, being a club's historian, has helped you find yourself in some way and or again, you can write a supplement about it, I just wouldn't put that But these are all just my thoughts from my own experiences Good luck in y'all's college applications!
