The Sikh prayer also known as Ardaas is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. But it's not because it has flowery language. It's because of how it's structured. Fundamentally, Ardaas is structured into two halves. The first is about remembering your history and the second is the actual prayer in which you ask God for whatever you want help with. And why I think this really beautiful is because in every element, in every instance in which you are making your prayer, you are forced to remind yourself of all of the history and all of the culture that has led you to that moment. And I think that's a really integral part of any prayer because when you're communing with whatever higher power you believe in, whether that's God, Allah, Waheguru, whoever you believe in, and you're making that request to help out with your day or before you undertake some great task, it's important to also think about how you got there. And it's important to remember your history because whatever faith you're connecting to, whatever faith that you align yourself with, you have to think about how you got there. What are the actions that people in that faith have taken such that you exist the way that you do now. And having that put in a prayer, I think is really beautiful.
