Some moments are hard…. ❤️‍🩹 It’s easy to get lost in what “should” be if you let yourself, but that mentality will make you miss what is. That’s exactly what happened to me when Jordi refused to eat any oatmeal this morning. I wanted so badly for something to be the way it was supposed to be that all I felt was disappointment when it didn’t work out that way. I didn’t even realize that Jordi wasn’t just not eating. He was clearly communicating that he didn’t want to. Which is its own type of progress. After a severe brain injury, not all progress is linear. Often it’s subtle and happens in the moments we’re not even looking for it. And as medically complex parents, it’s okay to have bad moments. It’s okay to have bad days. This journey is so hard… But even the smallest things can make it all worth it. And it’s also okay not to see it sometimes.
