I built our whole weekend around a 45 minute commute to get my one year old a singular shot every day

Sometimes all it takes is one provider… ❤️‍🩹 I’m not going to lie, unexpectedly having to plan my weekend around this really knocked me down. Because when does it ever stop? Jordi needed three doses of the antibiotic, 24 hours apart, to treat this ear infection. And because it was the weekend that meant traveling 45 minutes (each way) to spend an hour in the urgent care, each day. This was day three. I was tired. I was on edge. When I heard the words “I looked through his chart”, I thought “oh no, here we go again”… So the doctor’s next words caught me completely off guard. I wish I told him how much it means to parents like me to hear a provider acknowledge their efforts and speak to them like an equal. But at the time, I could only respond with “Thank you, but I’m his momma. It’s just my job” Anyway, that whole interaction reminded me of how far Jordi has come. This is the same hospital where he has spent a collective time of MONTHS in patient, sometimes for something as simple as a cold. And today, today we just got a shot. That’s it.
