did I perhaps overindulge and a little retail therapy yesterday at Barnes and Noble? Yeah. Yeah, I did. Do I regret spending money on books that I don't necessarily need, but want? No. No, I don't. So let's go over what I got. Starting off with The Lake Club by Lina Patton. Honestly, I did pick this up simply because of the cover. It just screams summer and this book looks so juicy and dramatic. My understanding is it's about two wealthier women and the crush they are both developing on a male nanny. Drama is going to ensue and secrets are going to be revealed and I am very much looking forward to finding out what this is all about. And I caved and picked up a copy of The Compound by Aisling Rawle or Aisling Rawle, I don't know how you pronounce it. I have been wanting to read this book since last year because I am a reality TV junkie. I love, love, love Bravo. I love pretty much any reality dating show you put on my TV. So I'm curious to see how this lives up to expectation in my head. I picked up a copy of Finding Grace by Loretta Rothschild too. I don't know too much about it other than it's about a couple that experienced a mysterious event earlier in their marriage and now years later, they are dealing with the fallout and the consequences and the author confirmed to me that it will be emotionally damaging and an destructive book. I love an emotionally destructive book. And then I finally picked up a copy of Where the Wildflowers Grow by Terah Shelton Harris. I have wanted this book for a while and then when I was in line checking out, the woman in front of me also had a copy and the woman behind us said she had recently read it and she absolutely devoured it. She said the writing is phenomenal and the story is memorable and impactful and she never wanted it to end, which I feel like is some of the highest praise you can give a book. I just feel like it's right up my alley to love this book. And lastly, I picked up a copy of The Shampoo Effect by Jenny Jackson. This is the book I went in looking for. Gonna don't it. It's a summary book set in Massachusetts. I'm a sucker for a Northeast setting, especially during summer, especially if it's involving a rowdy group of friends, which I believe this is. I guess we'll find out when I actually get around to reading it. So there we go. Five more books for my physical TBR shelf and more specifically for my summer TBR, which is getting quite long and ambitious. However, we are dreamers and believers over here.
