What makes Sienna Spiro's debut album so special is that it's really about one thing. The beauty of impermanent things. A relationship you know has an expiration date, youth or beauty that you know will fade. Even the feeling that this career you've been pining your entire life for could fade just in an instant. It's to remind you that the very reason those moments matter is because they are temporary. And if you knew you'd have them forever, you probably wouldn't appreciate them as much. The last phone call with someone you love, the summer before your life changes. It's like we never know what the last time is until it's already behind us. And I think Sienna captures that so beautifully throughout this record, that it's not about loss, but learning to love those moments of temporary imperfection. And maybe the point isn't trying to hold on to every single beautiful moment of life forever, maybe the point is to simply be able to notice and realize when you're in one and cherish it because it could be gone tomorrow. And the way Sienna captured these feelings of like raw emotion and vulnerability with her vocals, like the raspiness in her voice, you feel it, it feels so tender and raw. It's been so long since we had like an Adele-esque singer-songwriter type artist really breakthrough and Sienna is absolutely it. I think she is for sure going to get a Best New Artist nomination and honestly this album could be an Album of the Year contender. It is fantastic.
