I'm back again for another episode of luxury for less at the Dollar Tree. I'm a 5-year-old interior designer who's also a first-time homeowner. We're recreating this inspiration image using only items from the Dollar Tree. So we have to start with this beautiful vase. They are gorgeous, but they are expensive. I picked up one of these glass vases from the floral section and I'm getting down and dirty with a DIY. Trust me when I tell you I'm a beginner. I got some Mod Podge, some paint and some sponges. And I put myself to work. Paint will not stick to this glass on its own, so you have to Mod Podge the vase before you start painting on it. In order to make this thick and almost feels like sand, you mix your acrylic color with baking soda until it feels like sand. And then you get started dabbing it all onto your vase. This is definitely not an exact science, which is why I enjoyed this craft. This is what it looked like after one coat. I definitely wanted mine to be a lot darker, so I used more brown in my second time mixing the paint. This is when I really started liking the way that the vase was turning. And I did some longer brush strokes rather than just dabbing it on everywhere. I love the way that this turned out and I think it's going to look gorgeous on my kitchen countertop. Come back tomorrow because I'm making my own wooden tray. Bye.
