Welcome back to day two of cooking school in Maine. This is a home cooking cooking course, so it was really fun and casual today. We put our aprons on right away and started picking sour cherries for a tart that we're gonna make tomorrow. It's so fun using produce right from the farm for the cooking. We were having so much fun because it literally feels like adult summer camp. We started the day with a little knife sharpening workshop, which is honestly so helpful. I feel like a sharp knife truly is the key to success in any kitchen. Then we all decided to divide and conquer on what we would be making for lunch. So we all got different recipes and we just started having some fun. I volunteered to make the blueberry buckle because I still to this day think baking is a little bit more intimidating than cooking. Even though I have done an extensive cooking course before. It's so fun to see how different farms and different chefs actually do their recipes. I think every chef agrees that using locally sourced ingredients that are in season always makes for the best meals. So that's exactly what we did today. And the best part about cooking school is getting to eat everything that everybody made. So we walked around the farm for a little bit before heading out. Since this course is a little bit of cooking and a little bit of exploring, we spent the evening on a little hike up Beach Hill where we could look out and see all the islands of Maine. We played some bocce ball, which is honestly so fun. My dad juggled for everybody. And then Anne Marie made us the most insane s'mores completely from scratch and with a blow torch, which is honestly iconic if you ask me. It was such a fun day in the kitchen and up on the hill. And I cannot wait for more tomorrow. So make sure you're following along.
