The difference between you and every person who actually built something real, is not talent, not timing, and not luck. It’s that they have made peace with failing. They understood that every time something didn’t work out wasn’t them failing it was a learning opportunity. And they kept going anyway. Most of us were never taught that failure is part of the process, we were taught that failing means we’re not good enough. That was something to be ashamed of, that it meant we should stop trying. So we stopped trying when we fail. And we tend to hold ourselves back so we never have to face failure. We stay planning, thinking about things, playing it safe so that we guarantee ourselves a life of no failure. But here’s what actually separates the women who built a life they want from the woman who keep watching other people build theirs. It’s not them being born confident, confidence comes from doing. It’s a willingness to try before you feel ready, to fail without making it mean something about who you are, and keep going even when it does not go the way you planned.
