I think Kate Moss was a huge inspiration to me in my creative work, especially growing up seeing so much of the Tumblr and fashion blog era and the way she built a connection with the audience through the lens of the camera. There was an emotional impact in the way she was captured that gave me a real education in how an image can feel soft and authentic and honest all at once. She had this melancholy, quiet way of presenting on camera that I have never stopped thinking about. I think that is exactly why designers like Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Chanel built such iconic work around her. She took the designer’s vision and gave it a feeling, and the collection came out like something you could actually feel. Her early work in the 90s shaped my whole creative process and the way I think about marketing a product through emotion instead of information. Being one of the defining faces of that early 90s era gave her the advantage.
