I don't think people realize how big this ChatGPT release actually is. And no, this isn't just a oh cool I got a little bit smarter update. Up until now, most of us have used it for one specific thing. Summarize this, rewrite this, brainstorm this, research this. And obviously that's useful. But they just launched ChatGPT Work and the updated ChatGPT desktop app brings together chat, work, and codex all together in one place. It feels less like a place where you go for one specific thing and more of a place where you can think through ideas, turn it into a project, and actually make the thing. Chat is experience that people already know for thinking, writing, researching, and just figuring things out. Work is built for real work projects. Instead of you pulling context from five different places, it works with your connected files and apps. Understands what you're trying to do, makes a plan, asks for approval, and helps create actual finished outputs. And Codex is still there for devs and more technical work like code, prototypes, and builds. That's the part that feels big to me because we know real work is never just one clean prompt. It's messy, it's wait, use this file, it's actually reference this doc, and my personal favorite, make it look better. This release is powered by OpenAI's latest frontier model, GPT 5.6, which is a big part of why the outputs feel different, especially on the design side. I'm talking slides, PDFs, spreadsheets, reports, websites, dashboards, and actual usable artifacts. It can also turn supported projects into shareable sites, which is wild because it makes the jump from idea to something people can open and actually use feel a lot smaller. You can go from an idea to working through it to building the artifacts to sharing something polished, while you're steering it, approving things, and making the judgment calls. ChatGPT is helping carry the work forward. Download or update the ChatGPT desktop app and try ChatGPT Work today.
