ER Doctors Take

There has been a lot of nurse vs doctor tension conversation online. And it comes from this one doctor who responded at a train where someone's called for a medical emergency. She goes to the scene and then there's a nurse and the nurse is like, I'm a nurse, I'll call this. And then that kind of pissed off the doctor. And she goes off, and this is the part that I have an issue with. She goes off, and she's like, I'm a doctor. She doesn't actually say, but her rationale was she's kind of poking fun of the nurse who's feeding the patient juice. She's like, is she even know if he needs juice? Does she know if he's hypoglycemic? If there's one thing nurses know how to do, and mind you, there are millions of things that they know how to do. But if there's one thing they, for sure, can get right is hypoglycemia. Because these nurses will catch a patient being hypoglycemic straight from triage. So the fact that that's the example that she's using is bizarre to me. Kind of shows me that she probably hasn't worked closely with nurses since residency. Whereas in the emergency department, we are like this. Nurses and doctors, we got to work together, otherwise the patient will not get good medical care. And I don't even need to tell the nurses, hey, can you please get a glucose check? They're already on it. Fingers being poked actively. Just please use a different example if you're trying to build a case. Please use a different example than hypoglycemia.
