Reasons I love being an ER doctor: 1. Shift work — when I’m off the clock, I get to heal my emotions, focus on the people I love, and work on things that make me whole 2. I don’t care about what insurance you have. We see anyone and everyone, insured or uninsured. Our doors are always open. This allows me to give the same standard of care to everyone 3. We care about the social factors that affect your health. My management will change based off the little things (I.e, do you have follow up or not) 4. I try to be the person I would want if someone was giving me bad news. The ER is the worst day of peoples lives. My delivery of good or bad news matters. 5. The adrenaline rush never gets old. 6. IT’S A TEAM SPORT — the techs, nurses, pharmacists, RT, clerks… yall are why dispositions happen and lives are saved.
