Halfway through this repair... my customer completely disappeared. No calls. No texts. And what happened next has never happened to me before. At first, I thought maybe they were just busy, but as the hours went by, I realized something was seriously wrong. It started like every other repair. The customer called me because their brakes were making noise. We agreed on the price. I ordered the parts and I got straight to work. A couple of hours later, I sent them a progress update with pictures. No reply. I figured they were busy, so I kept working. Then I realized I needed one more part to finish the job. I called straight to voicemail. I texted nothing. I didn't think much of it. People work, people drive, people forget to check their phones. So I kept working. Then I got to a point where I noticed something I couldn't ignore. One of the brake components wasn't safe to reuse. I could have put it back together, but that's not how I do business. If my name is going on that repair, it's getting fixed the right way. Now I'm standing there looking at a car that's completely taken apart. Brand new parts are already installed. My tools are everywhere and I've already invested hours into this job. I'm thinking to myself, did this customer just disappear? Do I finish the repair or stop right here?
