Mechanics... what do you do when the power steering belt refuses to go on... and customer standing over you This was supposed to be a quick job New belt, correct part number Everything looked right But no matter what we did, that belt would not go on I thought maybe I was missing something So I called another mechanic He tried, nothing Then another mechanic came over Three different mechanics, three different approaches, same result The belt still wouldn't go on And to make things even more stressful, the customer was standing right there watching every move we made At that point, you start questioning everything Is it the wrong belt? Is the tensioner back? Is the harmonic balancer out of spec? Did we miss something obvious? This was supposed to be a 20 minute job But no matter what we did, that belt refused to go on We were seconds away from giving up and ordering another Then we tried one last thing And just like that The belt slipped right into place We all looked at each other like, you got to be kidding me What one repair that humbled you, even though it should have been simple What would you have done?
