NOW, RELIGIOUS WHICH IS A FORM OF OC D. AND INSTEAD OF BRINGING PEOPLE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING RELIGIOUS OC OR EVEN SYMPTOMS OF OR EVEN SYMPTOMS OF IT, BECOME DOMINATED BY FEAR WITH GETTING IT WRONG WITH GOD. THEY HAVE OBSESSIVE DOUBTS ABOUT THEIR RELATIONSHIP THEY HAVE INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS ABOUT THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. THEY REALLY DON'T HAVE PEACE WITH THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. NOW, THIS DOESN'T JUST AFFECT THEIR SPIRITUAL LIFE, BUT IT CAN ALSO SPILL OVER INTO THEIR BUSINESS DECISIONS. AS AN ENTREPRENEUR, OR SPIRIT OR FAITH BASED ENTREPRENEURS HAVE RELIGIOUS OC AND SOME OF THOSE BELIEFS THAT WE HAVE ABOUT GOD AFFECT HOW WE BUILD OUR BUSINESSES. IT AFFECTS HOW WE FEEL HOW WE FEEL ABOUT MONEY, HOW WE FEEL ABOUT SUCCESS, HOW WE FEEL ABOUT VISIBILITY. SO, SO MANY OF US DON'T REALISE HOW OUR BELIEFS QUIETLY INFLUENCE THE DECISIONS WE MAKE ABOUT OUR BUSINESS. A LOT OF THE WOMEN THAT I SEE THAT COME THROUGH MY ECOSYSTEM, THEY HAVE NO TROUBLE BUILDING SOMEBODY ELSE'S VISION WHETHER THAT'S THEIR BOSS OR THEIR PASTOR BUT WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO BUILDING THEIR OWN BUSINESS, THEY HESITATE, THEY SABOTAGE THEMSELVES. THEY SPEND A LOT OF TIME INTERNALIZING IF THIS IS WHAT GOD REALLY WANTS THEM TO DO. One of the reasons I talk so much about religion and I think the need to deconstruct harmful theology in the work I do as an executive leadership consultant in the mental health and entrepreneurship space is because so many of my clients and my clients, they come through my ecosystem and no matter how accomplished they are, no matter how educated they are, no matter how brilliant they are, no matter how great of an idea they have, one thing that I see over and over and over again, the lack of ability to really concentrate and focus, make good decisions when it's time to build their business. Now, there's something called religious scrupulosity, which is a form of OCD. So religious scrupulosity, also known as religious OCD, is characterized by excessive fear, guilt, perfectionism and persistent doubts centered on one's relationship with God. And instead of bringing people who are experiencing religious OCD or even symptoms of it, become dominated by fear of getting it wrong with God. They have obsessive doubts about their relationship with God. They have intrusive thoughts about their relationship with God. They really don't have peace with their relationship with God. Now, this doesn't just affect their spiritual life, but it can also spill over into their business decisions as an entrepreneur. I'm not saying that my clients or spirit or faith-based entrepreneurs have religious OCD and some of those beliefs that we have about God affect how we build our businesses. It affects how we feel about money, how we feel about success, how we feel about visibility. So, so many of us don't realize how our beliefs quietly influence the decisions we make about our business. A lot of the women that I see that come through my ecosystem, they have no trouble building somebody else's vision, whether that's their boss or their pastor. But when it comes down to building their own business, they hesitate, they sabotage themselves. They spend a lot of time internalizing if this is what God really wants them to do.
