DOUBLE GLOVE 4. pee before/in-between cases 5. keep those nails short Number one, avoid tight slick back buns. If you're a girly in medicine, you need to learn how to put your hair in a scrub cap without a hair tie. You're gonna get traction alopecia if you're in the OR for long periods of time and you have your hair like in a slick back bun. That's number one. Do me a favor and get yourself those washable/easy clean shoes. Okay? You need something like Crocs or clogs or Danskos or go-clogs. Those used to be my go-to. Double glove. Always double glove. I cannot tell you the number of times it actually saved me from a needle stick injury. And was very useful if I needed to switch between going below, ie, dirty, and above, ie, clean, in vaginal and abdominal cases. Four, pee whenever you can. Healthcare workers are notorious for having bladder over distension injuries. Five, keep those nails short. I mean, real short. Obviously, it's important for being sterile, but it's also really hard to do surgery when you have long nails, like, I know from firsthand experience.
