Anthropic launched Claude for teachers today. If you're a verified K-12 teacher in the US, you get a free year of premium Claude. Super cool and a big deal. But here's what matters even more than that. It's connected to something called Learning Commons. That gives Claude the academic standards for all 50 states. Not only the standard, but all the little skills underneath it, as well as the order kids usually learn them in. So you ask for a lesson on constructing linear functions, Claude pulls your state standard, tells you the misconceptions that students usually hit, and then it builds a lesson around those. So now it all aligns before you get the material, not after you've spent your prep period fact-checking it. It also includes cowark, so Claude can work while you're not there. You can hand cowark a folder with your entire student roster, and you can ask it where each kid is. You don't have to go digging through your files. You can also tailor it per each student based on what they need to learn and what they need to focus on. Really incredible assistant. And before you ask about safety and student data, training is off for verified teacher accounts, and it's built to comply with FERPA. Also, the teacher training was made with the American Federation of Teachers. This is free for verified K-12 teachers all the way through June 30th of 2027.
