Tomorrow morning is, here's what you prepare to make the day so much easier. 1. Don't rush the stage walk. Slow down on the handshake. Slow down when they call your name. Make eye contact. Embrace the moment. Embrace the applause. Enjoy your big moment. And don't let the nerves get to you. 2. Take your photos before the ceremony. Get there early so you can take your photos before the ceremony. Everyone waits until after the ceremony. Sitting inside the hall for one to two hours, they're hotter, they're sweatier. Campus is more packed and there'll be queues starting to form. Get your photos in before so you feel less rushed, less sweaty. Your family are waiting for the ceremony to start, not waiting for you to take your photos so that they can go home. 3. Check every professional photo before leaving. Check your graduation photos before leaving. Like me, you've spent 100 to 300 pounds on these digital or physical copies. In a rush, they'll be moving because there's queues behind you. But make sure you check every photo beforehand, because once you've left, you can't fix a bad photo. 4. Carry essentials with you. Pack a small essentials bag. Lip balm, face moisturiser, a portable charger. Heels will start to hurt your feet. Make sure you bring flip-flops or sliders. Safety pins or bobby pins to keep your graduation gown and hat on. This will make you feel fresh. Food and water. I can't go one hour without feeling hungry. And they'll be putting extortionate prices on everything. 5. Get your livestream and videos straight away. Ask somebody to livestream of your graduation ceremony, specifically your stage walk. Some universities charge you for access to the video. Some universities take ages for the video to upload after the livestream, and some universities don't upload the video at all. Sometimes copyright music. 6. Don't leave content until later. If you find a nice location to take a photo, take it there and then. Don't trust somebody who says, 'We'll come back and take it later' because people get tired. The sun starts to go down, the day is over. People you want to take the photos with, have left. 7. Get there in time. Arrive early because some universities don't let you into the graduation hall up to 15 minutes before the ceremony starts. Otherwise, they'll turn people away at the door. 8. A few rapid fire tips. The graduation caps like to fall off. Pins and clips can help, but hopefully it will stay on for your photo. Wear colours that match your graduation outfit. For example, a black gown will go nice with a white shirt. To me, it makes sense to get digital photo packages over physical photo copies because you can always go to any shop and ask them to print them out for you. For girls, practice walking in your heels before the day. But also don't overthink the walk on stage. It will go by quickly. Make sure you slow down for it. Guys, get a trim. Ask somebody who's not graduating that day, if you can borrow their camera, or you can rent a camera online if you really want good photos. Proud of you.
