Get ready with me while I give you my top tips for first time mums. 1. Your routine doesn't need to be perfect Genuinely, the first thing that I would say is not to put any pressure on yourself to have a routine nailed straight away. I remember when my daughter Bella was a newborn and it felt like all of my mum friends around me had their routines nailed and everyone was talking wake windows, feeding schedules and I just found myself constantly comparing what I was doing with her to what other people were doing with their babies. Your only priority those first newborn days is just to soak up every second and really get to know your baby. 2. You're not expected to have all the answers and don't feel like you need to remember everything or have mother's instinct on everything. Yes, there is a big part of knowing your baby, but it's okay to Google things and not be sure what you're doing. 3. Get free support from the Bounty app The Bounty app is completely free and it was amazing for us because I had never ending questions when I was pregnant and I still have never ending questions now. But what's really good about it is it's tailored to the stage of your pregnancy or when your baby's born, all the articles and tools are tailored to your baby's age. What I really like about it is that you're only seeing information that's relevant for you. Bounty has a free Ask a Midwife feature which allows you to chat with live NHS midwives. I feel like this is such a reassuring thing and it means that you're getting advice that you can actually trust. 4. You don't need everything before baby arrives And my next tip is don't feel like you need to buy everything. Babies are expensive too so it's worth looking for some good offers before you buy. The Bounty app has so many good discounts and offers for mum and baby essentials. I love that being a mum teaches you how to get ready quickly. 5. Be kind to yourself But genuinely the biggest thing that I'd say to a first time mum is this is literally the first time you're doing it and it's the first time you're experiencing life with your baby. So please be kind to yourself. You can download the Bounty app for support during your pregnancy and through to early parenthood.
