Did you notice that McDonald's stock has gone from a 52 week high to almost a 52 week low in just two months? Well, here's why. McDonald's brings in about $26 billion a year in revenue. Now, 1/3 of that comes from actual sales from their corporate owned stores. Two-thirds comes from franchise. And McDonald's is also in the real estate business. So they own all of the land on which any McDonald's runs. However, they are renting that to the franchise. So the McDonald's Corporation gets both rent and royalties from each of its franchise owners. Now, in February, on February 11th, they reported their first quarter earnings and they did very well. They had revenue of over 7 billion which was a beat. Now, they were also saying that they were getting more traffic into their stores, increase of about 6% in same store sales. So that was great and really was a catalyst for the stock to move up and hit it's 52 week of $340 a share.
