4 apartment hacks that will save you time & money hold for 2x 1. stop turning your AC off and on 1. stop turning your AC off and on I used to close my AC off and on during the day and then just open all the windows on the balcony thinking that it would save me money because the AC wasn't on all day. But that's actually not the way you're supposed to do it because eventually the items in your apartment are going to get hot. So when you eventually turn the AC back on, it's not just working to cool the room, but it's going to be working overtime to re-cool those items in your apartment. So instead of completely shutting off your AC system for the day, just try raising the thermostat up a few degrees. Next is to befriend the maintenance workers. In my last apartment, I was constantly putting in so much maintenance request for the time that I moved out, I was comfortable enough to ask him like, okay, like what is it that I need to do to get my full security deposit back? He was super real with me about what they check, what they don't care about, and told me exactly what I needed to buy to fix everything. Most of the time the maintenance workers are super chill, so if you ask them, they'll tell you. But I felt super comfortable asking them a ton of questions because I already knew them. Same with the property managing stuff. I would say hi to them every single time I saw them and I made sure that they knew who I was, just so I wasn't another resident. Because I feel like it's just better when they know you. Next is to buy cheap shower liners. I like to get my shower liners from Dollar Tree and I like to switch them out every month or every two months because I feel like those get gross the quickest and then also if you have cheaper ones, then you can replace them more often versus buying like a $10 one from Amazon where you might just justify only replacing it like every five months. But if you get the cheap ones from Dollar Tree that are $1.25, then you can replace them more often. And you shouldn't really have to replace your actual shower curtain if you do this because it's going to remain untouched. So the shower liner is that's actually getting dirty and then coming into contact with the water. Last is to keep your apartment clean 24/7. Don't keep dishes in the sink, clean up a room after you're done with it. This will allow you to never have to do little clean throughout the week and then I like to deep clean my apartment once or twice a week and then I never have to go in every day and just do like little spot cleans. This will also help if you have last minute guests or friends coming over because you won't have to like go in and clean everything and move things around. Follow for a part 2.
