5 things you need to do before moving into a new apartment. Number one is to set your utilities up. This is going to be electricity and internet. Next is to submit a change of address with USPS. And make sure your addresses are updated on apps/websites on DoorDash, Amazon, Target, wherever else you shop at. Next is to get renters insurance. I would highly recommend doing this with your auto insurance policy. If you bundle it, it's gonna be cheaper than doing it with your apartment complex. In my experience, their rates are typically higher than if you just bundle it with your auto insurance policy. Next is to schedule your moving day. Make sure you know exactly when you're getting there. For me, I got to my apartment at 11 PM, so I had to coordinate with the management team on how I was gonna get a key, how I was gonna get in, because most apartments need you to move in during their office hours, but they will accommodate if you ask early in advance. Next is to pack a 24-hour box. This is stuff that you need to have for the first 24 hours of being in your apartment, either because all your other stuff hasn't gotten there yet, or because you don't feel like unpacking for those first 24 hours. I'm gonna make a video on everything you need in that box. I'm also gonna do a video on everything you need to do once you get the keys to your apartment, so stay tuned for that.
