3 things to do before moving your stuff into a new apartment. I'm skipping all the basic ones that you've probably heard a million times like deep cleaning the apartment and filming everything. Number one is to get the washing machine and dishwasher started with the cleaning cycle. You don't want to throw any of your stuff in there with the last of the residue. Before bringing any of your stuff in, inspect the entire apartment for any point of entry for bugs, mice, or roaches. Get yourself a caulk gun and seal any gaps that you find in one of these places. Better yet, if you have the time to leave your apartment for a few hours, drop a fogger in there while it's still completely empty. If you can't think of anything to do in these few hours because you already did your furniture shopping, I think this is a great time to go grocery shopping. And when I say grocery shopping, I mean go into Trader Joe's because I had no energy to make any meals from scratch that first week. So it was nice to have some quick meals I can just throw in the microwave or even on the stove versus cutting up produce and making myself a whole meal from scratch. It's also going to save you money from having to eat out that entire first week. If they haven't been replaced already, I would recommend replacing things like your HVAC air filter, your toilet seat, your shower head, even the locks if that doesn't go against your lease agreement. Make sure to save this video if you're moving soon and check out part one.
