Trying to invest in the stock market, before you throw your rent money at a random stock because some guy with the Lamborghini said, trust me, run this checklist. Step one, open a brokerage account and avoid margin while you're learning. Boring money makes bad picks hit twice. Step two, research before buying. Check what the company earns, owes and actually sells. Not whether the chart looks pretty. Step three, diversification. One hot stock is not a portfolio. It's a hostage situation. Step four, test a set amount regularly instead of trying to predict every dip. Step five, check account fees and fund expenses. Then stop staring at the chart. If you check it every six minutes, baby, you didn't invest, you adopted a stress monster.
