listen take a listen to this that is an IMAX film camera and it literally sounds like a chainsaw which became a massive problem for Christopher Nolan on his new movie The Odyssey. He wanted to shoot the entire thing on IMAX. That sounds amazing, except that camera pulls massive amounts of film at ridiculous speeds, making it absolutely deafening. I remember thinking, gosh, it's loud. In the past, Nolan for only used it for action scenes. The stuff where noise really didn't matter. But for honesty, the Odyssey, he wanted to shoot the entire thing on IMAX, the dialogue parts. Is that what it's gonna sound like when we shoot our scenes? Like that's really distracting. They and they brought the IMAX film camera. IMAX had to build a custom soundproof blimp around the camera. It ended up being the size and weighed over like 300 pounds. But putting a 300 pound big ass box between your actors created a new problem. The camera was so big, Matt Damon and Zendaya couldn't see each other while they were acting. So Nolan's team built this insane system in front of the camera so for the cast to maintain eye contact while shooting. You might be wondering why would anyone go through all this torture while digital cameras exist, they're smaller and make no noise. And it comes down to the raw data. Each analog film frame holds 18k of resolution, not 4k, 18k. And the size difference between a regular screen and an IMAX screen is insane. You see so much more in detail, not resolution of the top and the bottom of the frame is just longer. But they spent millions developing shooting this film only for there to be 41 theaters in the entire world that can project it true IMAX film. So like most of us can't fully you think about the movie and let me know in the comments and like and follow for more.
