okay, i'm gonna show you the reality of being a touring musician. solo, no team, no manager, no booking agent, nothing. i'm going on tour next month as an independent artist, and i've self funded the whole thing, self booked the whole thing, and i haven't checked how many tickets i've sold per show since they went on sale about a month ago. and let's see if i am totally financially screwed or if it's all gonna be okay. okay, so first up is salt lake city, and this one i'm actually pretty hopeful about because my grandma lives there, and she has been promoting it to all of her friends. so salt lake city, 30 tickets sold. ah, that's actually pretty good. i don't have too much to say about that. that's also the first show, which is in 19 days, so it's good that it's doing well. i kind of wasn't expecting that. next we have seattle. okay, 12 tickets. that show is in three weeks, and we have 12 tickets sold. uh, listen, i'm grateful for every single ticket. i don't want this to come across like me not being grateful. hopefully we'll see that number ooch up a little bit, though. okay, moving on. portland, 12 tickets. okay, 12 seems to be the magic number for tickets being on sale for a month. it definitely could be better, but it could be worse. um, 12 real people getting tickets to come and see me in a state i don't live in. i can't complain about that. okay, next we have denver, which is my current home base. this is where i live right now. okay, 15 tickets. at least we're above 12. now that one's a little bit concerning because the venue was kind of expensive and also it is one of the highest capacity venues on the whole tour. it's 100 capacity, if you haven't noticed. i try to book really, really small capacity venues just cause i love, like, being in touch with the audience. hopefully i'll see a little bit of movement on that one. um, i don't really have too many friends in this city yet to invite to the show. uh, but if you're in denver and you like poetry, you know, come through. okay, next we have toronto, and we have 18 tickets. okay, 18 tickets. we're, we're getting up there. that's, that's pretty good. okay, next we have new york city, the big apple. um, this one i'm hopeful about. 22 tickets. you know, new york is hard. new york is hard. there's a lot of events, the people are always doing something. it is one of my bigger cities when it comes to listenership. oh man. okay. uh huh. next we have chicago. now chicago i actually am the most worried about because this was one of the more expensive venues. 17 tickets in chicago. 17. this is also one of the bigger venues. um, you know, chicago is also hard. another big city. oh, god. i'm trying to not, like, freak out a little bit. tour starts in literally, like, a little over two weeks. okay, the last city, austin. um, i'm from dallas, which is like, three hours from austin, so hoping this one's going okay. 14 tickets. 14 tickets. okay, well, that one is the last show, so it's the furthest away, so maybe it'll change some. um, so this is the reality of being an independent artist. it's hard. there's a lot of risk in this for me. like I said, I self funded and booked the entire thing. um, no matter what, I love playing live music, whether it's for a room of two people or 200. uh, it's my favorite thing in the world. so ultimately, these numbers don't mean anything to me as an artist. I'm happy no matter what. however, if you are in any of these cities and you like independent art, you like poetry, and you support mental health awareness, maybe you should come to a show. you could check out my music and see if it's your style, or you could just come in blind. either way, thank you to everybody who's bought tickets so far, and hopefully I'll see some of you there.
