Did you just see that Elon Musk just bought a $1B power company, himself? It wasn't Tesla or xAI. It was Elon, the person. There was no real press release about this or tweet. The only reason why this deal even surfaced is because a company that owned a 5% stake in this energy company had to disclose their $50 million payout to the SEC in a filing. And exactly what he bought tells you where the bottleneck for AI is headed. All right, now most of us, we go buy a generator when the power goes out from like Home Depot, right? Elon went out and bought the company that makes them. It's called APR Energy, which makes fleets of mobile gas turbines, over a gigawatt of capacity. And they arrive in a truck and you can just switch them on in the matter of a month. And here's why this is worth a billion dollars. Now Nvidia, they can ship you 100,000 GPUs in a month. But a new grid connection to them, power them and turn them on, the median wait is like five years. So your chips are out here depreciating while the paperwork's trying to go in. And Elon already lived this. He just finished building his Memphis supercomputer, 100,000 GPUs in 122 days, when a normal data center takes like 18 to 24 months. How, Elon, how'd you do it? It's because he didn't wait for the grid. He trucked in these mobile turbines, turned them on himself. And after that exercise, he just went out and bought the whole company. And so now he owns a gigawatt of power that he can just move and park anywhere he wants, on demand, while every other lab is over here sitting in the utility lane. And trust me, I get the irony, right? Like the guy who built Tesla to kill fossil fuels is now out here buying gas turbines. I mean, that tells you just how desperate this race for power is. And I think here's what founders should take away from this. Everyone else looking for power right now is just a customer, waiting, renting, standing in line. Elon looked at the bottleneck and then did one of the most first principles things. He bought the thing that makes the line. Now I get it, people are going to call this reckless. And I know some already are. And I know you're going to say it in the comments. But founders just don't build by waiting for permission. They have to find the way through the wall while everyone else is out here filling out the forms. That's the lesson, not about the turbines, but it's about the refusal to wait.
