I've been seeing this trend going around, so I wanted to put my little spin on it. I'm going to do my skincare while we talk about it. Is that okay? You are 100% going to need a laptop or an iPad. Personally, I have an iPad Air and the HP OmniBook 3. Loveeee both of them. And I think it is 100% worth money. I've made a video about this in the past, like the iPad versus the laptop. I'll do it again if you want, because that's a whole another video for another day. But we're in a modern world now. Everything is online. Some form of technology you can complete your assignments, note-taking, studying, everything, everything is online. Plus, if you invest in one now, you'll be able to use it for your future career. This one may sound random and don't lose me here. A Woozoo fan. Especially if you're living in an unrenovated dorm. Mine saved me freshman year. My brother stole mine and has it in Boston, but it would have been very handy to have this year when my apartment didn't want to turn the air conditioning on. Trust me, you're going to need a fan. The Woozoo ones are compact, they work really well, they're remote controlled, they're perfect. Please do yourself a favor and buy a mattress topper. I know, dorms, they're like made out of cardboard. Not just the dorms, the apartments too. I've had a mattress topper every single year of college. Never once regretted it. Your back and your body will never be mad at you for buying a mattress topper. Trust me. Get yourself some noise canceling headphones. Thank me for it later. Because people in the library, even in the stacks, where there's supposed to be silent, don't know how to keep their mouth shut. I love my noise canceling headphones. When I'm studying, I just blare my white noise in it. And if you're at the gym and the gym speakers are blasting music that you don't want to listen to, there are so many situations in college where noise canceling headphones are essential. Get yourself a good pair of walking sneakers. I think that one is pretty self-explanatory. Welcome to college. You're gonna walk 10k steps a day. Now, if you're going to a cold school, listen up. Going into my senior year at Penn State, so I know a thing or two about cold schools. It's not embarrassing to buy a big heavy coat that comes down to your knees, buy the snow boots, buy the umbrella, buy the hat, because guess what? You're going to look even more stupid walking around with your feet looking a mess, slipping on the ice, being frozen, trust me. Everybody come prepared. I didn't bring my snow boots up to school this year and we had a huge snowstorm. I looked so dumb and I was so mad at myself because every five seconds I was slipping on the ice. Someone literally said to me, they were like, this is what snow boots are for. Thank you, I know I left them in New Jersey. And if you think you're indestructible and you don't need to bring a water filter of any sorts, good luck. Buy the water filter. Buy the Brita. You're gonna need it. When I was a freshman, I even had like the Brita water bottle and that was really nice. In the dorm, since like you don't have a kitchen, you're just filling up your Brita with like the sink water, which is for us, well, just disgusting. You don't even think about it. But it makes it so much harder. It was just a lot easier to have the filtered water bottle and I would just fill it up anytime I saw a water bottle station.
