Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
random things you wouldn't say are essential to have in college but definitely useful. and this isn't just for dorms either, by the way. #1 laptop case. let's start off strong with a laptop case. I know this sounds really weird. I broke my laptop because I shattered the screen. If I would have had a laptop case, that wouldn't have happened. They're like $10 on Amazon. I will never ever again be going anywhere without a laptop case. #2 air mattress. Because you can't fit more than two people on the twin size bed that they give you in the dorm. So if you have more than one person visiting you, that other person needs somewhere to sleep. My freshman year I had a twin size air mattress and it didn't have a pump in it. But the nice thing was that it fit right in between my roommate and my nice beds and we used it so much that it popped. So get a nice one with a pump because otherwise it's just easier. Even if you're in an apartment and you have a full size bed, like if you have multiple people visiting you, that other person needs somewhere to sleep. Both years that I have been in an apartment, we have used the air mattress. You're gonna want the air mattress. Trust me. #3 good food storage. Get food storage containers that also double as bowls. I'll put a picture on the screen of kind of what I'm talking about. I bought these freshman year thinking they would be like really useful for the dorm and they were because it was like a two in one, like a bowl and a Tupperware. They are my favorite food storage containers in my apartment and I've bought like three. Because it's just so easy. You don't have to dirty a bowl. Like it's right in there, heat it up, put it in the microwave and it's good to go. #4 electric tea kettle / hot pot. My exact one, $22 on Amazon, linked in my storefront under dorm essentials!! Mine saved me freshman year. I used to make so many things in there. I'm not a big coffee girl, so I didn't use it for the Keurig. So I used the hot pot for my tea. I also used it to like toast bread. I would just put it on the bottom of the hot pot, which is why I would say a hot pot over an electric tea kettle. I would boil water in there and I would make pasta, mac and cheese, like late night when the dining hall isn't open or if the dining hall doesn't have something that you want or you're running low on your meal plan, trust. You will appreciate the hot pot. Technically you might not be allowed to have them in the dorms, but I never had a problem. #5 robe or towel cover. Do not forget to bring a robe or some kind of strap on towel thing, especially if you're in a coed dorm. Maybe this was just me thing, but I did not feel comfortable walking the two steps to get from the bathroom to my dorm just in my towel. I lived on all girl floor, but I liked having my robe with me. It just felt more covered up and I didn't feel like, you know, nervous if somebody came walking down the hallway. #6 chip clips. They're so easy to forget, but you need them. Like I don't really think I need to explain much here. Don't forget them. Put them on your list right now. And guess what? I have everything linked in my Amazon storefront. So go check it out. It's linked in my bio.
