One of the biggest shocks that I've ever had in my life was when I found out that people go into debt willingly. When I was a kid, I would always ask my mom how credit cards worked. And every time she would explain it to me, I would have no clue what she said. Because she would leave out the part where people actually spend more money on their credit card than they're actually able to pay back. So I grew up my entire life up until I actually got a credit card, thinking like, wait, what's the point of a credit card? Like, yeah, I can build my credit. But like, isn't that so easy? You just pay it back with the money you have. But as I get older and older and I find out more about the world, I found out that people actually don't have enough money to pay back their credit card. But they still use it anyway. Like, that is such a wild idea to me. Like it's one thing to go into debt and leverage it on some rich dad, poor dad money-making method. But there's actually people out here who are on payment plans for DoorDash going into their credit card bill.
