You guys remember how I said I was doing a no-buy July? Yeah, I broke it. Now, I went into Sephora and I had a cart full of like, maybe five items. And I looked at it and I was like, I really be making up any damn excuse on this planet to put shit in my cart to go check out and buy. Any excuse, particularly with makeup and beauty and hair care and stuff like that. So I then started to think about it and I was like, why do I feel like I need this stuff right now? And my honest to God answer was because I was going on vacation. Girl, that make no damn sense. Why do you need something because you're going on vacation? How much shit do you have at home already? So you know what I did? Because I asked myself that question, four of those items went back on the shelves and I only bought one mini size concealer because it was a gap that I was genuinely missing in my current collection now that I'm like fucking six shades darker. Okay? So I was so proud of myself. And although I broke my no-buy, I still was able to ask myself the right question in order to walk out of there not spending $100. Any excuse. It made me realize one thing. Sometimes you have to put yourself in situations like that to really test yourself. It's very important to have that level of self-awareness when you're a recovering shopping addict. Like for me, I was genuinely was addicted to buying makeup. There's something about makeup that I genuinely love, okay? And I want all of it. I want to collect it all. I want my space to feel like a Sephora. Why don't I couldn't tell you. I'm still doing the introspective work, okay? And I'm trying to find the answer, and I cannot find it yet. But I am actively working on it every day. So the next time you go into Sephora because you feel like it, or you're gonna browse and you end up with shit in your cart that you don't need, ask yourself why you're buying it. Why do you feel like you need these right now? Because you're going on vacation? Because you got a birthday party on Saturday? Girl, please. Unless he's funding that, put it back. Okay? That's my talk.
