🍻 The Sports Center has closed its doors. On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, one of Yakima's longtime neighborhood bars unexpectedly closed, leaving many wondering what happened. After speaking with multiple people involved, here's what I learned: 🏢 Former manager Erin said the decision to close was a personal decision by the ownership. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to help build what The Sports Center became and thanked her staff and customers for the "crazy beautiful ride." 📞 Willie Edwards of WMT Enterprises LLC told me he and his business partners made the difficult decision after the business continued losing money despite being one of the busiest bars in town. 🔄 Edwards said the owners do not intend for this to be a permanent closure. Their goal is to make changes, find new management, and eventually reopen. 📋 I also looked into online claims regarding the property's tax status. County records currently show a delinquent balance on the WMT Enterprises LLC property tax account.
