social media is one of the least efficient and discouraging ways for talented, altruistic people to help others 99% of the time, the BEST advice by people who spend their time: ✅building their expertise experts in that *topic* ❌NOT building their expertise in *marketing that topic* so obviously it’s going to be hard for me to find the BEST advice when I search for it here. So if you’re a creator / educator who feels really discouraged because you don’t get to help as many people as you hope to help, here are some ways of giving back that have felt a lot more productive to me: ✅ reaching out to past professors or student organizations and offering to give a talk — you know that the people who show up are (1) eager to learn and (2) there for your expertise and not marketing gimmicks ✅ organizing talks and mentorship events at your workplace ✅ writing > making videos. I personally get so much out of the process of writing that I don’t even care who reads it. Also, recruiters have found my substack and reached out with job interview opportunities because of it, so yay underrated creators, social media algorithms, where to find career advice
