Instacart APM program
Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
Instacart's APM program just opened and it's probably the last APM program that opens this academic year. Here's everything you need to know. Tips for the resume, take home and interviews. The program is not just for new grads, it is also for career switchers. It's an 18-month rotational program. You'll get to be on two different teams after you submit your application and interviews that span product sense, execution, behavioral. I'll give you sample questions for your resume. You're going to PM-ify it and showcase the transferable skills that you have, even if you have no product management experience. One, customer empathy, understanding the pain points of your customers or users. Two, prioritization, how do you pick the most important problem to solve for that problem and best solution for that problem. Three, cross-functional leadership, working with teammates and backgrounds and different skill sets. And four, data analysis, using data to inform your decision. With the take home and the interview, how do you showcase your advanced product thinking about Instacart's business? Is that it is a four-sided marketplace: customers, shoppers, advertisers, and retailers. What does that mean for you when you talk about ideas for improving the product? Give ideas that benefit all four sides of the ecosystem. Also on the flip side, think of the second order effects, the downstream effects of your ideas. Maybe one idea really end customers, but could hurt advertisers.
