Before you go to pray, take a minute, just a minute of your life, and sit down on your prayer mat. Breathe, relax. Away from whatever you were just doing. Take your phone, put it on silent and just leave it somewhere in the room, or a different room. That's even better. And just spend, maybe close your eyes and just remind yourself that you're not just doing aerobics. You're about to have a meeting with the creator of all creations. You know all the anxieties and the worries that you have about life, marriage, stress, and finances, and your job, and all of those things. We often rush through the prayer to go back to working on those things, and we completely forget that the one who's in control of all of those affairs is in front of us. And so rushing through this to try and go and work on those things is counterintuitive. Instead, take your time here because a good connection with Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala will make all of those things easier. You might think that spending an extra five minutes praying removes five minutes that you could have been working, or five minutes you could have spent on your business. But these five minutes here makes the time you spend on those things more fruitful. A student who studies six hours but rushes through his prayer, doesn't remember much, doesn't find clarity. But a student who takes his time with prayer and maybe four hours finds more barakah, more memory, more attention, and more success. That's my personal experience. So next time you go to pray, remind yourself what you're actually doing. Step into the presence of Allah whilst you're praying. Remember that this is the foundation of all success, of all, if it's money, or business, or your spouse, whatever. It starts here. So if you miss this connection, don't be surprised when everything else doesn't work out.
