Have you ever wondered what a Strava map looks like after a run on a moving ship? Well, I've been seeing posts online about creating a corkscrew map on Strava while running on a moving ship. I set my watch to an outdoor run, but was unable to replicate the corkscrew. Did I do something wrong? So today, I had a 5 and a half mile run planned and decided to run on the outside deck of the cruise ship. I'm really not sure how accurate my GPS is, but I was getting around a quarter mile with each lap, which equates to the same distance of a normal track. So I had to really lock in for 22 laps, but with views like this, it really helped the time pass and I lost count of my laps. But the real mystery was how my Strava map would come down. After my cooldown, I took a look at the map and was disappointed to see that my GPS ended up smoothing my run into not a straight line. GPS, recognizing irregularities automatically. If was corkscrew. Let me know if you ever tried this and was able to replicate a corkscrew route pattern.
