Copilot has read more of your writing than your closest colleague has, and it’s doing nothing with it. Secret Copilot Hack No 2, teach it to write like you. Every email you’ve sent, every doc you drafted at 11pm, every “no worries, leave it with me” in Teams. It’s all sitting in there, so instead of accepting the beige corporate voice it defaults to (a press release with a fringe), you can ask it to study how you actually write. Look for my tone, how formal I get with different people, my sentence length, the words I use constantly, the ones I avoid, how I open and sign off, and any personality markers like humour or asides in brackets. Summarise what defines my writing style with three real examples that prove it. Then write me a set of custom instructions I can paste into Copilot so every email, document and response sounds like I wrote it myself. Address them to Copilot as commands, be specific rather than vague, include the words and phrases I actually use, name the ones I never use, and list what to avoid so nothing reads like a machine wrote it.
