Here are three ways to get closer to Christ, closer to God. Closer to God. First of all, you got to trust his character as being good. And that's exactly what Jesus revealed about God. God is good. God is holy. And he created you and me to be good. To be holy. When you and I trust him, we're acknowledging, we realize your goodness, God. We realize your purity. We realize your holiness. The second way you get closer to God is not just by trusting him more and more, but by obeying him. He's God. I'm a human being. If God and I are going to get along together, I've got to do it his way. If I'm going to rebel against him and always do it my way, I'm going to build a gulf between God and me. An unbridgeable gulf. But when I trust in Christ, I begin to realize how good he is. And I begin to want to obey him. Obedience is submitting to God's authority. And if you and I want to get along with God, we have to submit to his authority. The third way we get closer to God, the way we grow our spiritual life, is by worshipping him. To worship means to understand he's ultimately worthy of our allegiance, our loyalty, our praise. Those are three key ways to grow closer to God. The fourth way would be sitting at the foot of the cross. So actually, whether it's a real crucifix or not, thinking and meditating on what exactly Jesus did for you gets the heart engaged with the mind. The fifth way would be worship, walking through the woods specifically. Studies have shown that when you walk through the woods, praising God, actually standing in awe of him, it's a totally different experience than if you're just in your room doing that. In order to know God better, you have to have friends who reveal different angles of who Christ was in order to get close with him. Sharing about what he did in your life, because this life is not a lone wolf kind of life with just you and God.
