It's fruits of the SPIRIT, not fruits of the MAN/WOMAN. So if you're bearing fruit and it's the opposite of the fruits of the spirit, it's time for a heart check. So let's just go through them. Let's see. Test yourself. Love. And it's going to take me a little bit because I'll have to remember each of them. There's nine. Love. Are you loving or are you hating? Okay? Are you somebody who's a hater? What are you known for? Are you known for your love? Love, joy. Do you have joy or are you discontent about everything? Uh, love, joy, peace. Are you peaceful or are you anxious? Are you nervous? Love, joy, peace, patience. Are you patient or are you in a hurry? Patience. Kindness. Are you kind or are you kind of mean? Kindness. Goodness. Are you good or are you corrupt? Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness. Are you faithful or are you unfaithful? Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness. Are you gentle or are you harsh with the people around you? And the last one's self-control. Do you have self-control or are you just like? So I don't know if that's convicting to you, but it's convicting to me. And the response usually is, I need to try harder. And if I try harder, that's how I can bear more fruit. But the key here is that it's fruits of the SPIRIT. So how do we get, how do we bear more fruit? Well, we abide in him. More time in his word, more time in prayer, having a relationship with him. As somebody who was an atheist until I was 18, this Christianese stuff of having a relationship with Jesus felt weird, right? But it's real. When you abide and have a relationship with him, all of these fruits come and you don't have to work for it. You don't have to work for it. That's why you don't hear fruit trees grunting, right? They're just bearing fruit because that's what they do. So my encouragement to you is, if you heard this and you feel somewhat convicted, the answer isn't for you to try harder and white knuckle this thing. It's to abide in him.
