I've got 1,000s of job applications. They all kind of look alike. I don't necessarily know if any of those who applied are super interested in the job, or just auto-applied and have never heard of me. I don't know if they're highly qualified or not even at all, because the resumes the same now. And so it's this big signal— I would call signal problem. Like there used to be a lot of signal in each job application. When I graduated, I went and printed resumes in envelopes to people. It took some effort. And so the fact that somebody got that meant something. But now I see 1,000 or 2,000, it doesn't really tell me about their intentionality when I get the application. And then when I open up and look at it, it doesn't really tell me about the person because they all look the same. Really the struggle side is trying to find signal, trying to find smaller needles in an ever larger haystack.
