It's time for your clay lesson of the day. Today I'm going to show you how to grout polymer clay pieces. To start out you're gonna need your baked piece of clay, liquid Sculpey and a bunch of paper towels. First, you're gonna fill all the indents with liquid clay. You can mix liquid clay together to get your own colors, but today I just used the blue straight out of the bottle and very messily fill in all of those lines. You want to make sure you get each and every nook and cranny filled. That helps you prevent your grouting from being too shallow or thin and it can also help to push out air bubbles in the liquid clay. I've had countless times where I do not see the air bubbles when I'm applying the clay, but then after baking, there's a big old hole in the grouting because there was air stuck in there. If that does happen, it's okay, you can just add more liquid clay into the hole and then rebake your piece for 15 minutes at 275 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the piece has been grouted, it's time to clean it all up with acetone. To do that, I'm using acetone and q-tips. Acetone is one of my favorite tools when it comes to cleaning up polymer clay and as you can see, it just works like magic, taking away all that extra paint and making our piece look so clean.
