things I don't do as a gym girl. I've been working out for over four years. I feel like some of these things will shock you. Okay, starting off with number one, I don't squat. I hit either glutes or legs three days a week and I never squat. I have bad knees, especially from like playing sports in high school and it just is so uncomfortable. There's a difference between an exercise in the gym feeling uncomfortable because it's difficult and uncomfortable because it's hurting you. There are so many other exercises you do not need to put your body through that. No squats, no squats. Next up, I don't track. The concept of 10,000 steps a day is literally just like a random number that sounds good. There is no science behind the concept. It's just the more steps they just picked 10k as like a good reference point for everyone. So instead of being super obsessed with the idea of 10k steps, I just choose as much walking when I can. I'll walk to class instead of taking the buses. I'll take the stairs if I can instead of elevators. I just try and choose walking when I can. Next up is, I don't skip out on sweet treats. I have a major sweet tooth and life is too short to not eat the things you enjoy. I have a sweet treat at least every single day. It is possible. It's all about balance. Like, if you're eating healthy 80% of the day, have your sweet treat. Next up is fasting. If you're working out fasted, especially if you're lifting, it's just not optimal. You wanna be eating quick carbs before your workout to give you the energy so that you can have the most energy to lift and the most, cause that's what's gonna get you the results. You're not burning different fuel sources by eating before or after. Your body has its own way of regulating itself and it'll all even out by the end of the day anyways. Next up is Ab Circuits. You know those YouTube videos that we used to do in like 2019, they're like, "How to get Abs in 10 days?" I'm not doing like 300 Russian twists to get abs. I'm a big believer in the fact that abs, yes, are made in the kitchen, but also weighted abs. I'll do one to two weighted ab exercises at the end of my upper body days. At the end of the day, abs are literally just another muscle group. So why do we always treat them differently? Lastly for today is like the weirdest one, but 90% of the time, nothing playing in my headphones. I just have them on as like an accessory, if you will. I'm a big yapper, so sometimes it's good to have them on so people don't talk to me, cause otherwise I'll be at the gym for like just yapping. But I don't know, like I'm just like when I'm at the gym, I don't really like need music that bad. Let me know what you do or don't do out of these.
