Robert Monroe left his body and discovered why human beings exist. He hated the answer: we're being farmed. Monroe founded the Monroe Institute, the consciousness research center whose methods were studied by US military intelligence. Declassified on record in his book Far Journeys. Monroe describes receiving something called a "rote". Basically, an entire body of knowledge transferred into his mind all at once. And what it showed him was horrifying. Earth was a farm. Every living thing here produced an energy called Loosh. Fear produced it, pain produced it. Conflict produced it, even death produced it. And something outside our reality was collecting it. Monroe suddenly saw humanity like cattle, being emotionally milked by the universe. Congratulations, we're cosmic dairy cows. But Monroe wasn't laughing. He said the realization depressed him for months until he returned to the non-physical beings guiding him. And they told him the information was real. But his human translation was wrong. Loosh wasn't simply suffering. Suffering was the crude form. The purest form of Loosh was love. And Earth wasn't necessarily a torture chamber built to harvest pain. It was an environment where consciousness could transform fear, loss, attachment, and survival into love. Then Monroe did something that destroyed me. He looked back across his own life and asked, "How much love have I actually produced? Not received, produced." He remembered people loving him, supporting him, giving to him. But when he searched for moments when he had generated pure love without needing anything back, one of the clearest examples was his love for a childhood dog. This man traveled beyond his body, discovered the alleged purpose of humanity, and came back wondering whether he had spent his life producing love or merely consuming it. Whatever Monroe encountered, non-physical beings or the deepest part of his own consciousness. That question survives: What if suffering isn't the product? What if it's the raw material? Fear arrives, grief arrives, betrayal arrives. But those aren't necessarily what your life produces. They're what your life receives. The question is, what leaves you? Maybe pain is what happens to us. Love is what we make from it.
