Hey, this is a message

Hey, this is a message to the finance major. I hooked up with my senior year of college. Hey Diva, I know you know, I didn't know anything about saving or retirement planning when we dated and I told you that my family's retirement plan was lottery tickets. And so you taught me all the basics on retirement planning, how to open up a 401k, Roth IRA, what a brokerage account was, and what a high yield savings account was. And so I listened to you, but then I was like, hey, I have $70,000 in student debt. How am I gonna be able to do all of that? And you said, as long as the interest rate on your loans is less than the rate of return in the market, you should put as much money as you can in the market. And I don't care what your first salary is, Alyssa. I want you to take $20,000 off of that salary and attempt to live within the means of your salary minus $20k. And so when I was 21, I took $20k off of my salary and I put any extra dollar I had into my private student loan, because the interest rate was higher and I paid the minimum on my government loans because the interest rate was less than 5%. And after my first job, for every job I had where I made more money instead of putting that money in my bank account, I actually capped my salary at $60k. And so whether I made six figures or more, I never made more than $60k and I didn't experience lifestyle creep because I decided to open up the accounts you told me to, to open up a Roth IRA to open up a high yield savings account and a brokerage account. And listening to you is the reason why at 28, I was able to quit my job and take a chance on myself and see if I can develop my own streams of income instead of having to rely on a corporation for the next three decades. And so I just wanted to say thank you because if it wasn't for your advice and the things I taught myself over the past few years, I wouldn't be able to take the chance and the leap that I'm taking. And it's really frustrating that well power is hoarded for people that have a lot of money, so it's generational knowledge. And you helped me gain knowledge that I'm trying to pass down to other people that don't have that generational knowledge, that can also build generational wealth too.
