I Reviewed The Full Bodycam. These 3 Details Matter Most. Rockton, Illinois  Eight-month-old French Bulldog Kody died on July 27th after being placed in a patrol car during a traffic stop. I watched all the bodycam footage, and the questions it raises are serious. Kody was put in Officer Graham's car at approximately 1:02 p.m., already panting heavily. Waldemar, Kody's dad, begged officers for cold water and help almost immediately. One officer reportedly said "hot dog" when he first saw Kody. They could see he was struggling. It wasn't until approximately 1:35 p.m., about 33 minutes later, that they drove to a nearby gas station where Kody got water and ice. Kody appeared to improve. He died at approximately 5:36 that evening. The bodycam also shows Waldemar's car had no working A/C, that he gave Kody (he told me) water and that said that again in the video (below) to the officer, and the heat index that day was near 110 degrees. He was driving 75 in a 55, on a suspended license, in an unregistered, uninsured vehicle, with an 8-month-old French Bulldog, a breed extremely vulnerable to heat. None of this happens without those violations. Both things can be true at the same time. Officers need to answer whether they acted fast enough once Kody was clearly in distress in their custody. And Kody's dad has to answer why that dog had no water and no A/C in that heat. The Illinois Training and Standards Board is now conducting a preliminary review. We are watching.
