I'm seeing a lot of people crashing out about the incident at the border between Spain and Morocco. And about 50,000 people tried to get through. Um, let's just go over some facts because I've literally heard overheard people in public talking about it like Europe is over. First thing to know is that of the roughly 50,000 people, more than 48,000 people had voluntarily returned to Morocco, Spanish officials said. One man told Reuters news agency he was going back, adding, "It's not good at all, and it's not fun either. I mean, people are dying here. If you haven't come, you don't do it." Like look at all these people who are carrying nothing. They're trying to cross that border in soaked clothing. Some of them don't even seem to have shoes. Whatever the Telegraph tries to tell you, whatever reform UK or anyone on the far right tries to tell you this is not an invasion. This is just desperate people. People who've probably been told by people trafficking gangs that they would get them to a better life in Europe, which as I repeat, has not happened because the vast majority of those people have voluntarily returned to Moroccan territory. I think it's something between like 50 and 60 people lost their lives in this incident. It's incredibly upsetting to think about. But it sounds a lot like Spain and Morocco are already coordinating to make this border stronger, so it's unlikely to happen again at this scale. The visuals are very shocking. The numbers are very shocking. But don't let psychos and racists on the internet twist this into some kind of apocalyptic doomsday scenario. That's not what's happening, but it is a perfect opportunity for people on the far right to stir up fear.
